Ukraine’s ambassador to Kuwait, Maksym Subkh, held two meetings on humanitarian cooperation within two weeks: first with the minister of social affairs, family and childhood affairs, then with the head of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society. Both were reported by the state news agency KUNA and published by Kuwait Times.

Child protection

On 17 September, the ambassador was received by Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah, Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs. The two sides discussed exchanging expertise in social affairs and child protection and agreed to study proposals for possible cooperation. After the meeting, the minister said Kuwait remains committed to its humanitarian role in supporting and protecting people affected by disasters and conflicts.

Generators and equipment for the energy sector

On 29 September, Subkh met Khaled Al-Mughamis, chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Kuwait Times reported. They reviewed Ukraine’s most urgent humanitarian needs and how to coordinate the delivery of relief.

The ambassador thanked Kuwait for its support in the early years of the war and said needs keep growing because of displacement and destruction. “The energy sector has sustained significant damage,” he said, explaining that Ukraine needs generators and essential equipment. The Kuwait Red Crescent has previously helped Ukrainians in the energy, health and food sectors.

Background

In 2023, Kuwait allocated $1 million to buy electricity generators for Ukraine. In an August 2026 interview with Kuwait Times, Subkh said Ukraine was ready to share its wartime experience with Kuwait’s armed forces, mainly through training rather than equipment sales. He also invited Kuwait to join Food from Ukraine, a humanitarian initiative that delivers Ukrainian farm produce to countries facing food shortages, and recalled the Kuwaiti students, many of them in medicine, who used to study in Ukraine.

In February 2026, Kuwait hosted the exhibition “Brave to be Strong” marking the anniversary of the full-scale invasion, as Qahwa.Media reported earlier.
